I’m back in the land of chaos, corruption and crowdedness. Gone are the days of going to the sunny beach everyday, people admiring my sunglasses, chronic alcoholism on long naked piers, fish restaurants all around you and the white bricks of the north. Gone is the crispy breeze slapping your face at night, the tickling of sand on your feet, the russian circus with hopping felines, olga, building sand cockcastles then fighting with nearby families, pizza station and star gazing. Gone is my entire estranged mother’s family and their ma7shi with kofta, gone is our neighbour Hossam Hassan the footballer, stolen is the size 4 football I baught from seagull by a couple of smartasses, gone is waiting for the sunrise to break through the clouds in an explosion of orange and blue, gone is when you’ve drank over a dozen beers, 6 shots of tequila, and a few malibu on ices, gone gone gone are those fulfilling days of sa7il. Well…..
Until next weekend that is…..
